In the dawn of a new space age, humanity has settled throughout the solar system and beyond the outskirts of our galaxy. Recruited by the International Space Administration, teenaged Sonny Strekalov is chosen to test pilot an experimental, biomechanical mech known as the Delta-00 “WYVERN” – but a devastating accident in the Wyvern’s cockpit leaves Sonny with deep physical and psychological scars.
The way forward now unclear, Sonny is sent to the remote space station Astrolabe where he unwillingly continues his role as pilot of the Wyvern. Sonny’s life becomes inextricably tangled with those of the crew, his squadmates, of space pirates, bureaucrats, bounty hunters, and the settlers of the planet below as they all struggle to exist 2.5 million light years away from Earth.
But underneath it all, a vein of corruption begins to bleed through…
